A little about me
As long as I can remember, I have found life and purpose in listening to others. I cherish the stories from the journey; the passages that brought them where they are today. I believe God is in the ordinary, everyday activities of life, as well as the significant mountains and valleys, and that clarity and healing can come from speaking them out loud to another.
Through attentive presence and deep listening, I provide a safe and confidential space in which you would feel free, cared for and at peace. If you’re weary from deconstructing your faith, from serving, or from parenting little ones, my strong hope is that you would experience the loving and gracious hand of God during our time.
I trained at Christos Center for Spiritual Formation from 2010-2012, and since then I have provided one-on-one and group spiritual direction. I have also partnered with churches in providing soul care for staff, leadership, and lay teams through retreat and contemplative time. I received a certificate in Spiritual Formation from Renovaré Institute in 2023, which has strengthened my ability to accompany others on their spiritual journeys.
Outside of spiritual direction, I am a wife and mother to two kids, a mother-in-law, and grandmother to two sweet little boys. On any given day I prefer to be outside, even in Minnesota’s cold winters.
Listen to the Everyday Peacemaking podcast episode “When We Listen Longer” where Mary talks more about spiritual direction, and the role that it plays in peacemaking in the way of Jesus.
What is spiritual direction?
Spiritual direction is the ancient practice of companioning with another as they seek the transforming work of God in their lives. The goal of direction, or spiritual listening, is to deepen intimacy with God by giving prayerful attention to the Holy Spirit and his movements in your life. It does not seek to solve problems, rather it draws you closer to God in the midst of questions.
It provides a safe, confidential and sacred environment which can lead to freedom, healing and clarity. The spiritual direction relationship is one of care, sacred trust, non-judgmental listening and love.
